Dental Sealants

Dental Sealants In West Kelowna, BC
At Westbank Dental and Implant Centre, our dentists use dental sealants as a way to protect teeth from cavities. If you live in the West Kelowna area, we urge you to schedule a consultation or check-up at our dentist’s office to see if dental sealants are the appropriate treatment for you and your family’s teeth.
Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are a thin, plastic coating brushed onto the exterior of your back teeth to limit and stop tooth decay. The procedure is effective in both children and adults. At Westbank Dental and Implant Centre, we prevent the damage caused by cavities by sealing the ridges of your molars.
Reasons to Use Dental Sealants

Good oral health begins with brushing and flossing teeth twice a day or after eating. This method may not be completely efficient because the ridges of your back teeth, also called molars, can hide leftover food and bacteria. Once the sealant is applied, it adheres to the surface of your molars, stopping food from entering into the crevices of teeth and cavities from forming.
The Dental Procedure

The procedure is entirely pain-free. When you visit our dental office, we perform routine dental cleaning before rinsing and drying your teeth. The dental sealants are painted onto the tooth and dried using a special dental light. The treatment takes only a few minutes for each tooth. It is a safe and easy way to prevent cavities from forming or spreading. The sealants are clear, and you do not have to worry about metal or discoloration in the tooth. Some patients report feeling smoothness when they run their tongue over their teeth, but it is not bothersome or irritating in any way.

At Westbank Dental and Implant Centre, we are delighted to examine you and your family’s teeth before letting you know if sealants are an appropriate option for you. To maintain good oral health, it is recommended that you visit our dental office for a check-up twice a year. We also strongly suggest that you brush your teeth two or three times a day, rinse, and floss at least once a day.
